Levi Walker, M.D. (1784–1869 or 1871) was a physician and clergyman active in New England. Born to John and Mary Gibbs Walker, his origins are tied to Medway, Massachusetts, and Livermore, Maine. After twelve years as a Methodist circuit preacher, Walker adopted Baptist tenets and joined the First Baptist Church in Fall River, Massachusetts. He preached in Fall River, New Bedford, and Edgartown before pastoring the Warwick and Coventry Church in Rhode Island until 1819. Relocating to Connecticut, he preached in Preston before settling in North Stonington in 1823. There, he maintained his medical practice, organized the town’s first Sunday school, and became the first minister of the Third Baptist Church.
