Notes
William Spencer (1784/1785 – 1871) was a ship captain and reportedly a farmer. The son of Hadlyme church deacon Israel Selden Spencer III and Temperance Brockway, he married Deborah Selden. During his early maritime career, he commanded the sloop Julia. While specific details of his later life and residences are scarce, some historical reports suggest he subsequently worked as a farmer.
