Charles Webster (April 4, 1793 – December 28, 1862) was an Old School Presbyterian clergyman who served congregations in New York and New Jersey. Born in Albany, New York, to prominent publisher Charles R. Webster and Rachel Steele, he graduated from Union College (1813) and Princeton Theological Seminary (1817). After conducting local missionary work, Webster was ordained and pastored Christ’s First Presbyterian Church in Hempstead, Long Island, from 1818 until his resignation in 1837. Following a brief period preaching in Bloomsbury, New Jersey, he was installed at Mount Pleasant Church in Middletown Point (now Matawan), New Jersey, where he served from 1838 to 1849 and oversaw the construction of a new church edifice. He resided in Matawan until his death. In 1818, Webster married Jane Wilson Brant, with whom he had multiple children, including lawyer and diplomat Charles R. Webster.
