Mercy Eells Lathrop (1742–1833) was a lifelong resident of New London County, Connecticut. Born in Stonington to Mercy Cushing and the Reverend Nathaniel Eells, she married Dr. Joshua Lathrop, a Norwich apothecary and businessman, on November 5, 1761, becoming his second wife. Following her husband’s death in October 1807, she lived as a widow in Norwich for over twenty-five years until her death on July 7, 1833, at the age of ninety-one.
